Spiritual Force's Quest of the Lost Sun Chapter 1: An Honest Request

The sun slowly rose over the quiet little town of Ponyville, a modest home of equine kind in the land of Equestria. The light slowly crept into the modest room of a white furred pegasus. She dragged her light blue and seafoam green mixed mane from under her bed, her golden eyes dulled by the tiredness still gripping her senses. She took a moment to think of what she had to do today and widened her eyes, she then looked to the alarm clock and found it was 8:25 am.

"AHHH! I'M LATE!" She screamed, grabbing items off of her dresser and putting them on. She flung her door open and glided down the stairs. It was hard for her to put on her pink bow while holding her wing armor in her mouth. Her golden bracelets clinging as she tied the knot on her bow. Her hooves slammed on the wooden floor of the farmhouse as she saw her goal of an open door; she lunged forward to quickly leave when she felt a slight tug on her tail.

She turned her head to see her tail was caught in the muzzle of a familiar orange earth pony. The blonde maned pony pulled the pegasus down before her, fixing her hat before staring into the golden eyes with her emerald green ones.

"Mornin' sugar cube. Wher' ya off tah in such a hurry?" Spirit looked to the mare and replied in a rush.

"APPLEJACKIOVERSLPETANDNOWI'MLATE-" The white mare was inturrupted by a hoof being shoved in her mouth.

"Calm down, Spirit. Now what's the matter?" Taking Applejack's advice she took a calming breath and spoke more coherently.

"I overslept and missed the train to Canterlot, now I'll miss my meeting with Princess Luna." Applejack cocked her head to side then asked.

"Didn't Applebloom give ya' the letter?" It was now Spirit's turn to seem confused as the southern mare shouted. "Applebloom! Get down here!" As if on cue, a small cream colored filly bounded down the stairs, her red mane tied in a pink bow. She looked up innocently with amber eyes.

"Yes Applejack?" Her tone as sweet as honey. Applejack seemed unphased by the cuteness of her little sister's voice.

"Applebloom, what happened tah the letter Spiritual Force got last night?" Applebloom thought for a moment before something clicked in her head.

"Oh! Well I-I um..." She seemed to falter as her sister hit her forehead with her hoof. The smaller apple ran out of the room to search for said item. The oldest of the apples walks into the room, a scroll held in his teeth. He walked in front of the two mares and placed the scroll on the ground before them.

"Thank ya kindly, Big Mac." Applejack said to the large red stallion. He just smiled and bobbed his head. "Eeyup."

Applejack turned to Spirit as she read.

"Dear Spiritual Force, I hope you can excuse the sudden need, but I must move our meeting four hours later than originally requested. I hope this doesn't inconvenience you as I am looking forward to meeting you face to face. Signed, Princess Luna." The pegasus blushed making her freckles now easier to see. "Ah."

"I thought ah'd let you sleep in today so ya'll weren't tired when ya meet the princess." Spirit smiled and hugged her friend, The Apples were so good to her, she thanked Celestia; they took her in and gave her a job. Spiritual Force did what the family of farmers asked her to do, today however she was free, and when she was given free time she did what any pegasus does; she flew.

Spirit was a confident flier, and she's honest when she says that too. But sometimes a feeling overtakes her; a feeling that if she wanted, she could go faster than she ever dreamed. Of course she would never do so. She needed all of her energy to help with the farm and couldn't waste any energy that wasn't necessary.

Soon the time came and she boarded the train to Canterlot, she was excited and scared as the trip progressed. Excited, not only because she was meeting one of the princesses, but said princess wanted to meet her! She considered herself a somewhat normal pegasus. The reason for being somewhat normal was because of her cutie mark. The three images on her flank were different colors.

The first of the three was two emerald crescent marks, one resting it's tip in the center of the other. The second was three more cresent lines in the form of a flower, a small sapphire dot meeting in the center of the three marks. The last was of a ruby paw print, one oval-like shape under three triangles. The three images represent the three races: Earth Ponies, Pegasi, and Unicorns. Spirit once looked up why the three marks appeared on her flank, but has always come up short. As she was lost in the same questions she could find no answers to she was thrown out of them by the rock of the train.

Spiritual Force now found herself in the capital of Equestria, the castle town of Canterlot. The light of sunset made the great city gleam in twilight beauty, the pegasus almost lost herself in the big city with streets filled with other ponies. However her destination was one of the easiest, the castle in the center. As she neared the place gates she gulped, now thinking of how she was going to get past the daunting guards before her. As she neared the two serious faced pegasi clad in golden armor she cleared her throat and spoke.

"I'm here to see Princess Luna." She pulled out the letter she received as proof of what she said was the truth. The two shook their heads as they opened the large twin doors. Spiritual Force was met by a unicorn who lead her through the entryway and down the halls of the castle now bathed in multicolor lights, shining through the stain glass images of the windows. The unicorn then opened a door with cream colored aura as he cleared his throat,

"Presenting her Highness and Princess of the Night, Princess Luna. Your Majesty, to you I introduce the young mare you requested, Miss Spiritual Force." Spirit's golden eyes looked in awe at the Alicorn sitting in the throne before her. The Princess's coat was a dark blue matching the sky at midnight, on her chest was an obsidian chest piece with a crescent moon in silver. Her starry night-like mane blowing in the wind with a black crown on top of her head. She raised a hoof covered by a silver horseshoe beckoning the white mare forward.

The aqua blue eyes gave the pony a sense of calm. As she grew closer to the Princess, it allowed her to now see the black splotch with the crescent moon serving as the Princess's cutie mark; next to the throne she also noticed an open box. Spirit quickly bowed before the princess which elected a giggle from the royal.

"Please rise, Spiritual Force. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." She looked to the Princess and unknowingly followed what she said. Luna motioned for the guard to leave before she spoke.

"I am sure you have many questions as to why you are here; the reason is because I have a request I must ask of you. Two weeks ago, my sister and I sensed a dark force approaching from the shadows. Being who she is, Celestia left to see what exactly the darkness was, choosing to place herself in danger instead of any of her subjects. I haven't heard anything since her departure and I am worried about her." Spirit tilted her head to the side, confused by why she was given this shocking information.

"Princess, with all due respect, why are you telling me this?" Luna smiled and answered her question.

"The reasoning behind this is due to two things. The first is a question you've asked, but never found an answer to. When you knew your special talent was working hard with everything you do, the marks appeared on your flank. You and everypony you know have no idea what those images mean; they are the ancient symbols of the three races." The shock Spirit felt now made the shock she held moments ago pale in comparison.

"It is rare for a pony such as yourself to be born. In my entire life I have only met three with this power, you being the third. The other reason is because of something else, I have been searching for those capable of wielding a power stronger than myself and the other three Princesses." Spirit lost her breath, she had a feeling of what the power could be, but why her...?

"Princess Luna, you're talking about the Elements of Harmony...are you saying you think I can bear one...?"

"I'm saying you will lead them. Look past the doubt and fear within, Spiritual Force. All of Ponyville...no, all of Equestria is in your hooves at this very moment." This was crazy, how could the Princess even think this was possible that she, of all pegasi, could find then lead the Elements of Harmony? Before she could say no, she felt something in her heart put a stop to that. She needed to be honest and she was.

"To be honest....Yes. If you think I can find the other elements then I will." A light emanated from the box unleashing a blinding glow. When the light died she noticed a weight around her neck, a smile spread across her pink-tipped muzzle as she saw her cutie mark made out of fine-cut gems, each one a different a color on the gold chain. In the middle was the sapphire symbol of the pegasi resting dominantly in the center, on the left corner was the ruby red symbol of the earth ponies. Lastly, on the right was the green unicorn symbol.

"And it is because of that, you are the Element of Honesty." The Princess of the Night said with a smile. She excused herself for a moment to lower the sun and raise the moon. Seeing the sky fill with stars made the young mare think of how her life now reflects the sky while the stars were the possibilities her life now held.
